uScovery DMCC Highlights Sustainable Transport Solutions at 'World Without Hunger' Conference

[20.11.2024]

The "World Without Hunger" conference, held in Addis Ababa from September 5 to 7, 2024, brought together over 1,400 participants, including world leaders, representatives of financial institutions, private sector stakeholders, and agricultural experts. Organized by UNIDO in collaboration with the Ethiopian government, the African Union, and FAO, the event served as a platform for discussing innovative strategies and forging key agreements aimed at combating hunger and advancing sustainable development.

The delegation from uScovery DMCC, led by CEO Oleg Zaretskiy, actively participated in the conference, underscoring the importance of such global initiatives. During the event, Oleg Zaretskiy held meetings with prominent political figures, including Grégoire Mutshail Mutomb Kangaji, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security of the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Guinea's Prime Minister Amadou Ouri Bah. Discussions focused on pressing food security challenges in Africa, where inadequate logistics infrastructure was identified as a major contributing factor to hunger. As a solution, uScovery DMCC proposed Unitsky String Rail Technologies—an innovative, sustainable transportation system designed for the efficient movement of cargo and passengers. This advanced technology offers significant potential to streamline supply chains, reduce costs, and improve access to even the most remote regions.

Key outcomes of the conference included a commitment from the Union of Arab Banks to allocate $1 trillion toward supporting the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and an initiative by AAOIFI to direct 20% of its $3 trillion in assets toward supporting small and medium-sized enterprises in developing countries. These investments aim to reduce poverty, create jobs, and enhance food security.

In response to these challenges, UNIDO’s Director of Agribusiness, Dejene Tezera, emphasized the importance of turning these commitments into tangible actions. Ethiopia's Minister of Industry, H.E. Melaku Alebel, praised the conference for its success in attracting investment, fostering collaboration, and providing practical solutions to hunger and poverty. The active involvement of political leaders and innovative proposals, such as Unitsky String Rail Technologies, underscored the event’s significance in advancing global food security and sustainable development.
